BIOGRAPHY
Tsuyoshi Abe was born and raised in Japan. He studied many martial arts including Karate, Kendo, Judo and Shorinji-Kenpo until his departure for the U.S. in 1985. He lived in Seattle, Washington and while there, studied in Bruce Lee's martial art, Jun Fan Gung Fu / Jeet Kune Do, under Taky Kimura. Tsuyoshi moved to Los Angeles in 1989 to continue his studying of Jeet Kune Do under Dan Inosanto, as well as the Filipino Martial Arts ( Kali, Esklima), Indonesian/ Malaysian Silat and Thai boxing. Tsuyoshi Abe was introduced into the Stunt business in 1990 and joined the Screen Actors Guild (S.A.G.) in 1992. He extended his martial arts knowledge by learning Japanese sword-fighting (Shinken-Do ) under Toshishiro Obata. Later he explored more style and calibrated with Japanese stuntmen to use Japanese swordsmanship properly on films. Since then, he has worked on over 200 film and Television episodes as stuntman and a stunt wire rigger. He is also known as Fight Choreographer and Stunt Coordinator, as well training actors in the many diverse martial arts for films. His talent is rare and unique in western film industry because of his vast knowledge and training in many different styles of martial arts. He continues to work on big budget films as a stunt performer as well as assisting fight choreographers and stunt coordinators. His recent works are in behind camera as fight choreographer, stunt coordinator and 2nd unit director or action director.
